Darnefti LIneage
The pedigree of Darnefti is a blend of the Skowronek progeny *Raffles, *Raseyn and *Rifala with a touch of desert bred *Mirage for elegance. While working at Silver Springs one of my favorite chores was calling the mares in for grain. To see an elegant band of mares, several being Daareyn daughters, running across the range and taking the short cut by jumping off the edge of levy was a dream for a horse crazy girl. The one mare in particular, Darnefti, usually was in the lead and always took the short cut. When I was able to start my own mare band and found out Darnefti was for sale at the age of 21, I shipped her to Illinois without hesitation.
Darnefit left a great legacy and influence at WineGlass Farm. In addition to her daughter Silver Springs Cabaret, who I also brought back from Wyoming, she delivered the two mares Wine Bint Darnefti and WineGlass Vintage. Four generations later her influence is still evident, especially in her great-grand daughter H. WineGlass Sonoma. Even though Sonoma is a Hungarian Felver cross, the elegance of Darnefti still shines in her and her progeny.
Her sire Daareyn was a popular horse with great charisma. He was bred by the famous W K Kellogg ranch and later used at the Ft Robinson Remount as an improvement stallion. From there he went to the Silver Springs Ranch in Wyoming and then onto the Burr Betts, Circle B Ranch, in Colorado. All of his progeny were very athletic in addition to inheriting his charm and personality. The dam of Darnefti, Nefertiti, was purchased by Friendship Farms owned by Tish Hewitt in Moline, IL.
